At Citywide Baptist church, we know that church has to be done differently than it has been done before. We want to be much more than a Sunday service. Wanted: Someone to change the lives of young people

We are searching for a Youth and Children’s worker with the ability to think outside the box, lead teams and mentor young people.

This position has been created as a first intentional step in resourcing what we hope will be a growing ministry to children and youth.  

Three options for the right person:

  • Get a qualification: The person in this position would be eligible to participate in a traineeship pathway towards a Bachelor of Ministry through the newly established Frank W. Boreham College that could attract Austudy and Fee Help in addition to the wages.
  • Minister in Schools as well as the church: This position could be complemented by employment as a local school chaplain for up to three and a half additional days a week, providing a natural extension of the overall role.
  • This role could be taken up without either of the abovementioned options.

Roles:

  • To lead and build a team of leaders that provide an age-appropriate discipleship model for children aged 0-12 during Sunday morning Church services. ( 2 hours Sunday morning + 2 Hours prep)
  • To facilitate a weekly Kids Club or similar program to serve local children who are not currently engaged in church activities. (1 hour program, 3 hours prep)
  • To lead and develop a youth leadership team to run an age-appropriate discipleship model that includes a weekly youth gathering and encourages each young person to step into the unique calling that God has on their lives.(1.5 hours program + 2.5 hours prep)

Our Youth and Children’s Worker will:

  • Work under the direct supervision of the Executive Pastor.
  • Supervise Voluntary leaders in Children’s Ministry, Youth Ministry and Children’s Outreach.
  • Provide regular reports on activities of the Youth and Children’s Work
  • Actively conform to and ensure the church follows  the Church’s ‘Safe Church’ policies
  • Participate in an annual Performance Review 


Remuneration

This position is renumerated pro-rata in line with the Baptist Union remuneration guidelines at between 60-70% of Senior Pastor wages depending on skills, training, and experience. This puts the hourly rate between $26 and $31 plus a personal expense allowance of $45 per week.

The position is entitled to five weeks annual leave and up to 60% of the wage may be taken as an exempt fringe benefit.

This position is initially a 12-month appointment, with an annual performance review process to address performance against the role profile.
